A quintessential English estate with contemporary interiors and boating lake

Just over an hours’ drive from London, deep in Jane Austen country, lies Farleigh Wallop, a quintessential English estate. Its beautiful grounds and contemporary interiors join a wealth of facilities including a heated outdoor pool, tennis court, boating lake, cinema and games room, perfect for a British summer holiday in all weather. The service-lead ethos means guests can indulge in fine dining or relaxed suppers at their whim, with bespoke menus prepared by the in-house chef, an extensive wine cellar and drinks cabinet all included.

Eleven elegant guest bedrooms enjoy views over landscaped gardens, a cricket pitch and croquet pavilion, where the staff on site can arrange games and afternoon tea on the lawn. Cowdray House, located at the heart of its 16,500-acre Estate, is the former home of Viscount and Viscountess Cowdray, with 22 individually designed luxurious bedrooms. The indoor pool with atrium roof opens out onto a sun deck providing views over the manicured gardens and parkland, while the outdoor pool offers a Georgian-style pool house and smart terrace for lounging out on warmer days, with staff on hand

to provide picnics by the pool or sundowner cocktails. Other facilities include a tennis court, croquet lawn overlooking the South Downs, a games room and even a bowling alley.

Broughton Hall is a 16th century historic home specialising in curated retreats, set on a 3,000-acre estate at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. Foxhill Manor is a beautiful Grade II-listed honey-coloured stone house with contemporary British country-style interiors. Housing an intimate eight en-suite bedrooms and suites, this fully staffed home, which once hosted Lady Gaga, is nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds, complete with butler service, nightly turndown, chauffeur and concierge.

The house boasts a cinema room, wine cellar, and freestanding baths in most rooms, with views over the Vale of Evesham. Close by, guests have full-access to the renowned Dormy House hotel spa, with indoor pool, thermal suite and gym. Renowned as a five-star Relais & Chateaux property with an award-winning chef, Glenapp Castle is available on an exclusive hire basis to discerning guests looking for complete privacy and discretion in their very own Scottish castle. Beneath the soaring turrets and ivy-clad battlements, lie 17 bedroom suites, each individually named, individually designed and lavishly decorated, with vast windows overlooking the nearby coastline and Mull of Kintyre.

The 110 acre grounds offer plenty of reasons to enjoy the Scottish summer, with beekeeping, foraging with the chef, stargazing and falconry all available to enjoy just moments from the front door, along with tennis courts, croquet lawn and its own arboretum.

The estate offers over 80 experiences, including the unique Hebridean Sea Safari. Guests board the Glenapp boat to explore the sea and bird life of the Hebridean islands, with a private chef and professional crew, who will navigate towards remote islands, coastal castles and distant inns. First stop is lunch at one of the many famous seafood restaurants, before arriving at an island or beach where the Glenapp island concierge team prepare a luxury glamping yurt in the wild. The first neo-classical Palladian mansion to be built in Scotland, Kinross House boasts views across Loch Leven to its own private island on which sits Loch Leven Castle, renowned for the imprisonment of Mary Queen of Scots and being captured by Sir William Wallace (Braveheart).
